As wonderful as Portugal is (and it is!), building or renovating there is extraordinarily “local”. The culture is highly individual relationship dependent, and requires either local “presence” or the likelihood of more future business, or both. What that means is you need people you trust there, personally, to get things done. If you are not there and/or do not offer the prospect of repeat business, you will not get attention and your project likely will linger in quality, expense, and/or time. As in so many places, building or renovating in Portugal is all about local contacts, connections, relationships, and having the prospect of offering repeat business. Culture is critical, and more so than in the US and some other countries, sitting down to a drink or a meal with the people who are building or renovating your home or building is critical to cement the relationship and ensuring things get done, and get done right. In many Western countries we think it is about the contract, but in Portugal that’s just the starting point!
Why choose us? First, you should choose us because we have a system of local contacts with providers throughout the country – real estate, architects, engineers, builder/remodelers. And we plan to develop a system for home and building maintenance, because once you have your home you need to have it maintained especially if you are not there full time.
Second, you should choose us because we have done it. Our founder did it the right way and got the results he needed and wanted, with high quality. We are professional and we communicate, guide you through each step of the process, and provide periodic progress reports.
Third, you should do it with us because we are trustworthy. Our founder is a resident of the United States for over 40 years. He has experience as a professional and as a business executive with large United States companies for over 25 years in the global aviation and construction sectors. He has done business all over the United States and in over a dozen countries including Brazil, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Norway, Singapore, China and others. He has extensive references and is personally overseeing the work of JACS21.
